So, this week has kind of gone by fast for us. We started the week off with a rough first few days with Abram. First trip to the new Pedi's office, 2 hr wait, then off to the pharmacy with the new Rx just to find that the doc had written the script for 2 days later. Awesome. So we didn't get to actually start his new meds until Tues. The daycare for some reason has a problem getting him on a schedule where he can get more than two 20 min naps..... WTH! So everyday he's come home he is completely exhausted. Thanks a lot daycare! We are hoping to switch soon, but the one we're looking at is just so expensive. He's finally sounding like he's getting better, though. I haven't heard him cough nearly at all this week. He's playing so much now. It's the cutest thing. I tried to upload the video of him in his jumper from my phone but it was too big for my phone to send. Bummer! It's so freaking cute. He would jump like crazy then say...."dadadadada" laugh, then jump again. He did this consistently for about 20 min. I can't get over what a personality he has. He laughs constantly at nothing! We haven't been home since Christmas so this weekend all the grandparents are going to go crazy for sure. Looking forward to seeing everyone.... I'm not used to staying gone this long!!

It's Called "Practice" for a reason
I get so sick and tired of arrogance. Abram's pediatrician since birth has been spouting off crap like "well in my 15 years of practice....." Well, even with your 15 years of practice, you have somehow failed to know what to do with my son. He's had this nasty cough up and down for about a month and a half now. Ridiculous! This same pediatrician with "15 years of practice" needs to practice telling patients' parents that their child may get a side effect that will scare you. In the drug facts of Abram's antibiotic, it reads could lead to abnormal BM, seek immediate medical attention if blood in stools. Well, every BM from an infant is abnormal. It doesn't say, could turn completely red! This is where the pediatrician should step in and say, "by the way, if his BM turns red, don't panic, he's not bleeding out". Needless to say, we switched pediatricians after a panic $250 rush to the ER. I should send my bill to him. Jerk! Here are some other points you should practice:
- Practice giving your patients an actual diagnosis instead of just giving a med and saying "let's see"
- Practice telling your staff how to behave and speak to people
- Have your staff practice on ANSWERING THE DAMN PHONE!
- Practice being a little more modest and a little less arrogant.

Past, Present and Well, who knows?
So, for my first official blog I thought I'd give a brief (loosely used) history of our family.
Matt
Matt is originally from Abilene and moved around a little before finally settling in China Spring (outside of Waco). After graduating, he gave college and college football a brief go and then enlisted into the Army in 2002. He served four years active duty in the Army Infantry with one tour in OIF. After the Army, he gave school and football another go and still decided, "not for me!" He ALWAYS talked about being a fireman since he was a child and now... SAFD! I've never seen him happier- job wise ;)
Me
Born and raised in Waco. Wasn't brave enough to venture to far from home just yet so I went to UMHB (go CRU!) Have to say sorry to my poor dad who begged me to go to his (and his WHOLE family's Alma Mater) LSU. After graduating, I moved to San Antonio to start what I thought would be a career in Health Care Administration. Only to find out.... I hated being behind a desk. My heart is really in patient care. So now, nursing school it is for me, to graduate in 2011.
Us!
We became acquainted through mutual friends right after high school. Passed each other here and there along the way until Matt came home from Iraq for a couple of weeks. We hung out his entire time home and well.... the rest is history. While it wasn't our intention in the beginning, we started a relationship oceans apart. Emailing and the occasional phone call kept us going for a few months until he finished his tour and went back to Ft. Lewis, WA. The next year and a half was grueling with once a month weekend visits and HOURS of phone calls! After a three year courtship, we became engaged in 2007. Married in May '08. We welcomed our first born, Baby Abram as my nieces call him, in July 09.
Only 6 months old and spoiled and already has both of us wrapped around his tiny little finger. Amazement by such a tiny little wonder takes up most our days now. The occasional Netflix after little man's bedtime is as close to a date night as we get now. Lord only knows what the future holds but if the last 5 1/2 years is any indication of what's to come, then I know we will enjoy every minute of the ride.
